The work consisted of the track alignment design for the installation of two very short diamonds at the entrance to Selhurst Depot. The entrance is south of Norwood Junction station near to Tennison Road overline bridge. The diamonds were originally designed for use at Lewisham Junction and consist of two 1 in 2.733 cast common crossings with two cast obtuse crossings also 1 in 2.733. The 4 units connect to each other such that there are no closure rails between the castings.

Amey had already ordered the steelwork/layout from the manufacturers and so the alignment design had to fit around the geometry on the legs. This was achieved with some compound curves off the ends. The vertical alignment design was further complicated by the proximity of the Tennison Road Over Bridge and the slab track into the Carriage Washer.

Shortly before the installation of the new diamonds the alignment and level were set out. Thereafter SML provided technical support throughout the track installation possession.
